DESIGN DEBATE

The design of a planned In-N-Out in Palm Springs has been the subject of heated debate.

The Palm Springs Architectural Review Committee voted 5-0 on Monday to approve, with conditions, revised architectural plans for a new In-N-Out Burger restaurant at 1801 East Palm Canyon Drive in Smoke Tree Village, but only after adding a requirement that the applicant bring the design back for a sixth review before the project can move forward.

Romance scams cost Americans an estimated $1 billion a year, and many cases go unreported because victims feel shame or embarrassment.

Four California agencies joined Assemblymember Greg Wallis this week to warn Coachella Valley seniors about increasingly sophisticated financial scams, from romance scams to contractor fraud.

The Palm Desert City Council voted 5-0 Thursday to approve a six-month extension of a development agreement covering the remaining 80 unbuilt units at Desert Willow. The extension moves the agreement’s expiration date from August to February 2027.

The Palm Springs City Council on Wednesday approved a makeover project for many of the city’s estimated 2,150 California fan palms, with some exceptions for trees in specific areas. The decision wasn’t without controversy.
