VOTE POSTPONED

Palm Desert’s Planning Commission Tuesday delayed voting “to a date uncertain” on approving a night club for an unused building on El Paseo Drive between Larkspur Lane and San Luis Rey Avenue. The matter is expected to come back to the commission after another community engagement meeting is held with neighboring businesses.

A group of Palm Springs residents has filed paperwork seeking to place a charter amendment on the November ballot that would restore a citywide elected mayor, launching a campaign to change the city’s governance structure even as the City Council prepares to study the issue through its own public review.

HEADQUARTERS ADVANCES
The $45 million police headquarters building is the final piece of the sprawling public safety campus. .
The Indio City Council on Wednesday approved two contracts related to the new Police Headquarters Building for the northeast corner of Jackson Street and Dr. Carreon Boulevard. The new building will replace the current headquarters built in 1979, which is located just to the north.

College of the Desert (COD) has finished the structural framework of its new Palm Springs Campus, advancing the project into interior construction ahead of a planned fall 2027 opening.

Golfers at The Lights at Indio Golf Course will have to wait at least another month before they can use the new clubhouse, as city officials on Tuesday reported ongoing delays with utility connections and entrance construction. The clubhouse was supposed to open a year ago.
