The city of Indio issued 706 housing building permits in 2025, a sharp increase from the prior two years that city staff attributed to a rebound from the COVID-19 era slowdown, according to a report presented Wednesday to the Indio Planning Commission.

Veteran Coachella Valley broadcast journalist Karen Devine will be honored with the 486th star on the Palm Springs Walk of the Stars during a ceremony in Downtown Palm Springs. The city’s chamber of commerce is presenting the recognition in the Humanitarian and Entertainment category, honoring her nearly 35-year career in local television journalism.
