This sprawling estate listed on Airbnb for $5,000 a night has been of particular concern to neighbors.

Trilogy Polo Club residents brought longstanding complaints about commercial event venues operating next to their neighborhood to the Indio City Council Wednesday evening, detailing noise disturbances, traffic safety hazards, and what they described as inadequate code enforcement while litigation continues between homeowners and the owner of a large estate used for events.

The Palm Desert Planning Commission approved a 546-unit single-family residential community on the former Santa Rosa Golf Club site south of Frank Sinatra Drive and west of Portola Avenue during its meeting Tuesday evening.

IMMIGRATION DIVIDE

The Indio City Council on Wednesday discussed the merits of requesting transparency from federal law enforcement amid ongoing arrests and detainments of Indio residents by federal immigration and law enforcement agencies. The discussion comes two weeks after a video went viral that appeared to show a woman being taken outside of the Larson Justice Center by masked, unidentified men.

COACHELLA ART CONSIDERED

‘Taffy’ as it might look in Civic Center Park.

The Palm Desert City Council is considering a 10-year lease agreement with Golden Voice to install a large-scale public art piece at Civic Center Park. The artwork, called “Taffy,” features five vertical towers ranging from 25 feet to 50 feet tall.
