REUSE PLANNED

The Sheriff's Department has been using this building since 1989 but will be moving out at the end of the year.
The Palm Desert City Council wants to use a Riverside County Sheriff's Department facility at Civic Center for city purposes, directing staff to research options to renovate the property rather than pursue private leasing or demolition.

Designed to serve households earning 30% to 80% of the area median income across three phases, the project now faces significant funding hurdles due to state budget cuts.

The Palm Desert Cultural Arts Committee on Wednesday voted unanimously to advance two artists as finalists for a sculpture to be placed at the San Pablo Phase 2 roundabout, located at the intersection of San Pablo Avenue and the east entrance to College of the Desert.
