The Living Desert Zoo & Gardens expects to break ground within the next two weeks on a major campus expansion that will include a 37,650-square-foot event center, a two-story administrative office, three new lion habitats and a redesigned entrance.

The Palm Springs Historic Site Preservation Board voted Tuesday to designate Seven Lakes Golf & Country Club as a historic district. If approved by the City Council, it would become the largest such district in the city.
